It is important to maintain your septic system.

• Schedule to pump and clean your tank every 1-3 years.
• Keep trees away from your septic system. Tree roots can cause damage. 
•  Keep maintenance covers and inspection pipes free from obstructions. 
• Flush only human waste and toilet paper. 
• Spread water use, such as laundry, evenly throughout the day and week. 

• Do not place any size building over your septic system.
• Don't drive or park any size vehicle over your drain field.  
• Do not flush cooking oils, fats, grease, coffee grounds, cat litter, paper towels, facial tissues, female hygiene products, 'flushable' wipes, cigarette butts or diapers.
• Don't excessively use household chemicals.
